Melchior Imboden is a Swiss poster designer and photographer. After an apprenticeship as a decorator Melk Imboden (as he is usually called) studied Graphic Design at the University of Lucerne. He then worked as an art director for a Zurich advertising agency and around 1992 he founded his own design studio. He was accepted in 1998 to the Alliance Graphique Internationale. In 2001 the Karlsruhe College appointed him to visiting Professor of Graphic Design and Photography. In 2004 he moved to the University of the Arts Berlin, also taking over as a visiting professor the poster class, which he held until 2007. Melk lives in Imboden Buochs (Switzerland).
Works and awards
Melk’s poster creative work has been awarded in many important exhibitions. In his photographic work, he portrayed, the inhabitants of his homeland ("Nidwaldner Faces», 1992), the Jazz environment ("Jazz Portraits", 1999), among others.
