Jianping He was born in China in 1973 and now lives in Berlin, where he works as a graphic designer, professor, and publisher.
He studied graphic design at the China Academy of Art, Hangzhou, the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK), and the Free University of Berlin (Freie Universität Berlin), before teaching at the University of the Arts, Berlin. Furthermore, he was guest professor at Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the China Academy of Art Hangzhou.
Jianping He has received international prizes for his works: the silver medal of the 2nd Ningbo International Poster Biennial, China (2001) as well as the silver medal of the International Poster Biennial in Warsaw (2002 & 2010). He was awarded first place at the Lahti International Poster Biennial in Finland (2005) and won the second prize of the International Poster Triennial in Hong Kong (2004 & 2010) as well as the Golden Bee Awards in Russia (2007), the silver medal (2008) and the bronze medal (2010) of the New York ADC; the Award for Typographic Excellence, TDC New York in the US and TDC Tokyo in Japan (2007-2010), the bronze medal of HKDA in Hong Kong (2009), as well as many other awards. In 2006 he received the German Rüttenscheid Poster Prize in Essen. His solo exhibitions were held in Germany, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Malaysia, among other places.
Jianping He is a member of the Professional Examination Association and the ESAG School of Design, Paris, as well as the AGI, the Alliance Graphique Internationale.
